If you’re anything like me, having a versatile kitchen appliance that can handle multiple tasks is a game changer.

That’s why I was excited to try out the Comfee Rice Cooker. It’s not just a rice cooker—it boasts several cooking functions, from slow cooking to sautéing to steaming.

In this review, I’ll walk you through its features, performance, and how it compares to other appliances I’ve used.

Overview of the Comfee’ Slow Cooker

For reference, I have the Comfee’ Rice Cooker Pro Multi Cooker 5.2 Qt. They have a few different models to choose from.

What comes in the Box?

In addition to the slow/rice cooker itself, the box contains the inner cooking pot, a steam tray, a measuring cup, and a serving spoon.

I actually forget about the spoon and measuring cup because I obviously already had these items in my kitchen. Every once in a while, I come across them in the depths of my kitchen cabinets. Then forget again until the next time I come across them!

As I write this, I realize I should give them to my toddler to use in her play kitchen!

Description and Key Features:

The Comfee’ rice cooker is a straightforward, user-friendly appliance that makes meal preparation easy for busy families.

The basic Model has two capacities: 4 cups and 10 cups. My Pro version has all the basic settings, as well as saute and steam settings, separate pre-sets for chili, pasta, soup, and stew, and a DIY setting.

The Keep-Warm function is a bonus, ensuring your meals stay at the perfect serving temperature even after cooking is complete.

One of the standout features is the programmable timer, which allows you to set a cooking duration of up to 24 hours. This feature is especially useful for recipes that need slow, steady cooking, like beans, stews, or tougher cuts of vegetables.

The delay start function adds an extra layer of convenience, enabling you to schedule when cooking begins so your meal is ready when you need it without overcooking.

Design and Build Quality:

The Comfee slow cooker has a sleek, compact design with a stainless steel exterior that fits well in modern kitchens. Its durable, removable ceramic insert ensures even heat distribution while being easy to clean.

The controls are intuitive, with a simple digital display and buttons for setting the timer and cooking temperature. In terms of portability, the cooker is lightweight and easy to store.

Cleaning and Maintenance of the Comfee’ Rice Cooker

The inner cooking pot and all of the accessories can be washed in the dishwasher. However, because of the non-stick surface of the pot, I generally just handwash it and put it back real quick. I’ve never had to give it a really good scrub.

Every so often, like maybe 10-12 uses, I put it in the dishwasher to give it a bit more of a sanitizing clean. I don’t know, but I feel like this helps extend the life of the lining.

You can also remove the steam vent and condensation collector to rinse those out as well.

Performance of the comfee slow cooker

When I first started using the Comfee slow cooker, the simplicity of its performance stood out to me. I really appreciate how easy it is to operate, especially on busy days when I need to set it and forget it.

I’ve noticed that the heat distribution is solid, which is key for slow cookers. I’ve had others in the past that would develop hot spots or overcook parts of the meal, but with the Comfee, I haven’t run into those issues.

The ceramic insert helps with this, keeping the heat consistent throughout the cooking process.

The Keep-Warm function is one of my favorite features. After the cooking time ends, the slow cooker automatically switches to warm mode, so I don’t have to rush to the kitchen to turn it off. This feature is great when dinner’s ready, but you’re not quite ready to serve it.

Pros of the Comfee’ Slow Cooker

One of the biggest pros of the Comfee Rice Cooker is its versatility. With 12 different cooking programs, you’re not just limited to rice. I’ve made everything from quinoa to hearty soups and even slow-cooked stews. It’s like having several appliances in one!

Another plus is the user-friendly interface. The digital display and one-touch controls make it simple to switch between functions, even when you’re in a hurry.

I appreciate how it automatically switches to Keep-Warm after cooking, so I don’t need to rush to serve the food.

The capacity is also a great feature. At 5.2 quarts, it’s big enough for a family meal and especially handy when I’m meal prepping. Compared to a mini rice cooker, this gives you much more cooking freedom.

Finally, the non-stick inner pot makes cleanup a breeze. After cooking, I can easily remove the pot, and it’s dishwasher-safe, which saves me a lot of time in the kitchen.

In reality, one of this appliance’s best pros is its affordability. At the time of writing, the Comfee Rice Cooker is ~$60 on Amazon. In contrast, a 5 qt CrockPot costs about the same, with only low, medium, and high settings.

(And the CrockPot I had before my Comfee’ only lasted a year at pretty minimal use).

Cons of the Comfee’ Slow Cooker

While the Comfee Rice Cooker offers plenty of versatility, the range of settings can initially feel overwhelming.

With so many cooking programs, it took me a little time to get comfortable with the controls. The good news is that the manual provides clear, detailed instructions, which helped me figure things out pretty quickly.

Another downside is that the inner pot is not stainless steel. While this is good for heat distribution and cleaning, you do need to be careful with utensils to avoid scratching it.

It’s also worth noting that while the 5.2-quart size is great for family meals, it might feel a bit large for singles or couples.

Comparisons to Other Brands

Before I had my Comfee’, I used a standard Crock-Pot, and while both appliances serve their purpose, I’ve noticed some key differences.

The Crock-Pot was simpler, with just low and high settings, which worked fine but felt limiting.

In contrast, the Comfee offers a broader range of programs, making it much more versatile for cooking grains, soups, and even baking. (Ever made a slow cooker lasagna or cake?)

That said, the Crock-Pot was much easier to use right out of the box, whereas the Comfee took a little time to get used to with all the settings. Once I got the hang of it, I found it much more convenient for meal prepping and multi-use cooking. I also appreciate that the Comfee switches to Keep-Warm automatically—something I had to do manually with the Crock-Pot.

Regarding cleanup, I liked the removable ceramic insert in the Crock-Pot, but the non-stick inner pot of the Comfee is just as easy to clean and less heavy to lift. Overall, while both slow cookers are great in their own ways, the Comfee wins for its versatility and extra features.

Most importantly, my Crockpot slow cooker didn’t last very long. One morning, I plugged it in, and it just didn’t heat anymore. A few days later, I got my Comfee Rice Cooker. Less money and more features!

Recipe Ideas and Tips

By far, the rice setting is the most frequent use of my Comfee. We mainly use the brown rice and white rice settings, but it has a quick rice setting, too! No more watching rice on the stove and having it take up a burner.

Vegetarian-Friendly Recipes:

  • Vegetable and Lentil Soup: The slow-cook function is ideal for soups. I love throwing in veggies, lentils, and broth in the morning and returning to a perfectly cooked soup in the evening.
  • Sauté and Slow-Cooked Stews: I use the sauté function to brown onions and garlic, then switch to stew mode to finish the dish. This is great for dishes like vegetarian chili or curry.
  • Game Day Dip: Sauté garlic and onions. Add a can of vegetarian refried beans, a can of black beans, some corn, and salsa. Mix well, and cook on the DIY setting for 8-10 minutes. Stir in some diced tomatoes and leave it on the keep warm mode to enjoy throughout the big game.
  • Homemade Yogurt: I haven’t done this, but I’ve been super interested in trying!

Tips for Best Results:

  • Use the oatmeal setting to start breakfast first thing. You’ll have a nice, hot bowl of oatmeal ready when you are!
  • Using the steam setting can eliminate the need for a separate steamer appliance or using a steamer basket on your stovetop.
  • Take some time to familiarize yourself with the manual. In addition to learning about all the settings, it has helpful information such as water-to-grain ratios and vegetable steaming times.

What are others saying?

On Amazon, the Comfee’ Rice Cooker has a 4.5 star rating. 76% of almost 14,000 reviews are 5 stars!

On Reddit, a user praised the Comfee’ because the keep warm setting kept the rice hot and fluffy, rather than drying it out like other rice cookers they had used.

Final Verdict

Overall, the Comfee Rice Cooker is a fantastic addition to any kitchen, especially if you’re looking for multi-functional, small kitchen appliances that can handle more than just rice.

Its variety of settings, ease of use, and ability to cook different types of meals make it a versatile tool for busy families.

While it does take some time to learn the settings, the clear manual helps, and once you’ve mastered it, the convenience and results are worth the effort. It’s a solid upgrade from regular slow cookers.
