Would I recommend the Ninja Dual Air Fryer? Absolutely!

We got a lot of use out of our previous air fryer, and this one is bigger and has more settings!

We don’t use it EVERY day, but almost.

One of the great things about an air fryer is its quicker cooking time, which uses less energy than the oven. It’s perfect for making a single serving of food and doesn’t heat up the whole house.

Overview of the Ninja Air Fryer

I have the Ninja Foodie 10 Quart 6-in-1 Dual Zone Smart XL Air Fryer. (Say that 10 times fast…)

It is a double-basket air fryer as opposed to an air fryer oven.

Technical Bits First

This air fryer is fairly large, with a footprint of about 17″ x 14″ and a height of 13″. It weighs about 20 lbs.

The Ninja Air Fryer is made of stainless steel and plastic and has a 10-quart maximum capacity.

Its max temperature is 450°F and 6 different settings, along with Smart Cook and Match technology.

It also comes with a food thermometer, so you can monitor your food without taking out the basket and checking yourself.

Key Features and Benefits

As I mentioned before, I have used another air fryer in the past, and this one far surpasses that one in many ways.  It is quieter and cooks faster.  It also has a lot more settings and possibilities.

Health Benefits

The most commonly touted benefit of air fryers is that they can produce crispy results without deep-fat frying.

This is true of the Ninja Air Fryer as well.

You can enjoy many of the same foods you may enjoy fried without that greasy feeling that sometimes comes with eating fried foods and without adding potentially saturated fats or excessive energy intake.

Ease of Use

The Ninja Air Fryer is very easy to use. It has a button-based interface, so you don’t have to worry about the markings on a dial wearing off.

This guy does more than just air frying.

It also has several pre-set functions including air fry, roast, bake, dehydrate, broil, and defrost.

Everything is clearly labeled and easy to figure out, even if you aren’t a manual reader!

Versatility

Because the Ninja Air Fryer has so many different settings, you can cook a lot more variety than a simpler air fryer. And two people can cook two different meals at once.

It has Match and Smart cook technology.

The Match Technology lets you easily duplicate the settings in one basket over to the other without programming it twice.

You can put different foods in each basket and use the Smart Technology so that each food finishes at the same time, even if the cooking method and times are different.

With the different settings available, you can experiment with some and find the best settings for your favorite foods.

I’ve used the dehydration setting on rosemary and tomatoes with good success.

The grape tomatoes don’t dehydrate all the way, but their flavor intensifies, and it doesn’t do that “pop” when you bite into them. They’re fantastic marinated and then dehydrated this way.

This is something I want to experiment more with.

I’ve also use in in place of a toaster oven to toast bread and it does a good with that as well.

Built-in Food Thermometer

And if your omnivorous family members choose to cook meat, they can use the thermometer to stop cooking once the food has reached its safe temperature.

You can potentially use this for leftovers, too, to make sure they get cooked to a safe 165°F, but I haven’t personally tried this.

Performance and Efficiency

As I mentioned above, this air fryer cooks food significantly faster than the one I had prior.

We do notice if both zones are going, it does take a bit longer, but not significantly.

I’ve cooked a French bread pizza in less than 5 minutes on the air fryer mode.  And I’ve used the baking mode to bake frozen biscuits.  Everything we’ve made in it takes less time than stated, even when the instructions are specifically for the air fryer.

The food has always cooked evenly, though when making fries or similar foods that overlap, I do shake the basket periodically.

The results are also better than when cooked in a conventional oven. The outside gets that crisp you’re looking for in fried foods, and the inside is fluffy. You may have some tricks, but I’ve never had fries come out as well in the oven.

Energy Efficiency

I couldn’t find much specific to the Ninja Air Fryer, but it has been well-documented that air fryers use less energy and cost less to run than ovens, even when run for the same amount of time.

According to CNET, for every hour of use, a gas oven costs 40¢, an electric oven costs 52¢, and an air fryer costs 25¢!

And considering you’ll likely only very rarely use your air fryer for that long, that’s a huge savings.

Noise Level

Because of the fan, an air fryer is a bit noisier than a traditional oven.

However, compared to my previous air fryer, the Ninja is significantly quieter. You can still hear it, but you won’t have to turn up the TV to hear over it.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Cleaning the Ninja is pretty easy.   I usually just squirt a bit of dish soap and some water into the basket, give it a quick scrub, and put it back.

On occasion, the boys will cook something greasy in it. I’ve found that, in this case, handwashing isn’t enough, even with really hot water.

Luckily, the baskets and grates are dishwasher safe, and they always come out like new afterward.

As for the rest of the air fryer, it’s as simple as wiping off the outside.

Vegetarian Recipes to Try

  • Simple Recipes:
    • Baked potato: A small-ish Russet potato only takes about 40 minutes in the air fryer but about 90 minutes in the oven. And the skin comes out crispier!
    • Try Sidra’s Air-Fried Edamame. It’s a super easy snack with plenty of fiber and protein. You can also try the recipe with chickpeas!
    • Single servings of foods that are usually made in larger batches do particularly well in the air fryer: garlic bread, French fries, or any of those pre-made appetizer-type dishes do well.
      • Dining alone? You can roast your whole meal in the Ninja Air Fryer.  Veggies on one side, protein on the other.
  • Recipe Ideas: Since this air fryer has 2 baskets, it’s perfect for your multivore family!

In summary, the Ninja Air Fryer proves to be a versatile and efficient kitchen appliance, especially suited for multivore families.

Its ability to cook a variety of foods with minimal oil while retaining flavor and nutrients makes it a valuable addition to any health-conscious household. Its ease of use, quick cooking times, and straightforward maintenance further enhance its appeal.

While it does come with some limitations, such as a relatively small cooking capacity and a higher price point compared to other models, the benefits it offers in terms of healthier cooking and convenience can outweigh these drawbacks.

For those willing to invest in a reliable and multifunctional air fryer, the Ninja Air Fryer stands out as a strong contender.

We highly recommend the Ninja Air Fryer for families looking to prepare delicious and nutritious vegetarian meals with ease. Its performance and features make it a worthwhile investment that can simplify and enhance your cooking experience.
