Equipment

  • Small skillet
  • Strainer

Ingredients

  • ½ cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 4-5 cloves fresh, minced garlic don't use the stuff in a jar for this recipe
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes or to taste
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning blend
  • 2-3 Tbsp Balsamic Vinegar

Instructions

To toast the garlic

  • Pour olive oil into a small skillet on medium low heat.
  • When oil is warm, add fresh, minced garlic. The garlic should give a very slight sizzle when added. Adjust temp up or down as needed.
  • Cook for 7-8 minutes, occasionally swirling the pan, until garlic darkens in color.
  • Pour oil into your serving bowl through a strainer to separate the garlic. Let garlic rest on paper towels. It will continue to crisp up as it cools.

To make the bread dip

  • Add the Italian seasoning blend, red pepper flakes, and salt to the garlic-infused olive oil and mix to combine.
  • Drizzle in the vinegar, then top with toasted garlic.
  • Serve immediately.
