Ingredients

  • 1 cup walnuts raw, unsalted
  • ½ cup mushrooms I used cremini mushrooms
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce low sodium
  • liquid smoke few drops
  • 1 Tbsp tomato paste I use the paste that comes in a tube, so I don't waste an entire can.
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Add walnuts to boiling water. Boil 10 minutes, rinse, then allow to dry on paper towel.
  • Using your food processor, pulse mushrooms and walnuts together, until a crumbly texture forms. Make sure not to over process, or a paste will form. You can also use a good chef's knife to chop ingredients to your desired consistency.
  • Sautee all ingredients together until the mushrooms give off their water and the walnut meat has dried.
